Hot Cross Buns

My first attempt at Hot Cross Buns.

Hot cross buns

A little lumpy in parts but well risen and a decent starter for ten. I used the BBC goodfood Hot Cross Bun recipe and followed it almost to a T as far as ingredients. The only changes I made were to activate the yeast in the warm milk first before adding the wet ingredients to the dry, and swapping in some dried cranberries with the sultanas.

The recipe made 12 very generously sized seasonal buns within 3 hours, which, for someone that doesn’t particularly enjoy working with yeast, was a dream! When I make them again, I think I might up the dried fruit ratio a little.

Happy Easter XXXXX
